ArmInfo. Hayastan Hakobyan, a member of Samvel Karapetyan's opposition bloc "Strong Armenia," has been dismissed from the Armavir Regional State Collegeafter 31 years of service. Hakobyan claims the termination was politically motivated. She announced the news on her Facebook page.
"Dear friends, family, and students, I am writing to inform you that I have been dismissed from my position as an educational and pedagogical coordinator at the Armavir Regional State College, as well as from my role as an instructor of Armenian language and literature, due to a lack of trust stemming from my political views. I have unconditionally dedicated 31 years of my life to this institution, loving my pupils and students and striving to raise them as worthy sons of the homeland. This is evidenced by a letter of appreciation from the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Armenia, numerous commendations from college directors, and, most importantly, the gratitude of my students, their parents, and my colleagues. It is a great honor for me to be a parliamentary candidate for the 'Strong Armenia' bloc, as the interests of my homeland come above all else," Hakobyan stated.
At the time of publication, the college administration had not issued any statement regarding the situation regarding Hayastan Hakobyan's dismissal.
Recall, this is not the first controversy involving the Armavir Regional State College. In May of this year, the "Wings of Unity" party led by former Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan released two audio recordings. The first appeared to show the college director pressuring staff and students to participate in the election campaign of current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his "Civil Contract" party. The second recording allegedly featured the director threatening those same students and faculty while attempting to discover how the recordings were leaked to "Wings of Unity." Although the Prosecutor General's Office initiated a criminal investigation into the matter, more than a month has passed, and no suspects have been charged.
