ArmInfo.Anyone who questions Tigranashen's belonging to the Republic of Armenia is committing a crime under Article 422 of the RA Criminal Code. Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the "Country for Life" party, wrote this on his Facebook page.
According to him, a week ago, the authorities amended the RA Law "On Administrative-Territorial Division," merging the Ararat and Vedi communities, including the village of Tigranashen, into a single community. In other words, Tigranashen's belonging to the Republic of Armenia is enshrined in law, and this amendment effectively confirms it for the current authorities. "Therefore, anyone who questions or discusses Tigranashen's belonging to the Republic of Armenia is committing a crime under Article 422 of the Criminal Code. Please, if you notice such statements, send them to me so I can pass them on to law enforcement agencies," the politician wrote.
Last November, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on his Telegram channel that Armenia must return its sovereign territories under Baku's control during the border delimitation with Azerbaijan. Against this backdrop, public speculation has arisen that the prime minister's statement may be an indirect signal of his willingness to hand over former enclaves within Armenia, including the village of Tigranashen, to Baku.
