RA MIA refutes fake reports of  expected strong earthquake in Kotayk  region

ArmInfo.  A fake video is currently being circulated on the X platform, falsely claiming that the Seismic Protection Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs has issued a warning regarding a potential magnitude 7.4 earthquake  expected to occur in the Kotayk region in the coming weeks. This was  reported by the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs press service.

The report notes that the reference to the US Geological Survey  (USGS) in assessing the seismic risk of the Kotayk Province is also  false.

"Accurate earthquake prediction is considered an unsolved scientific  challenge worldwide. Specialists from the Seismic Protection Service  of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs conduct 24/7 monitoring of the  current seismic hazard and issue prompt and appropriate earthquake  alerts," the Ministry's statement reads.
