ArmInfo. The Armenia bloc's petition to disqualify Constitutional Court Judge Seda Safaryan from hearing the case challenging the parliamentary election results has been rejected by the Constitutional Court, as the issue of judges' participation or non-participation can only be raised by Constitutional Court judges. This is stated in a court statement.
It notes that, by the Constitutional Court's decision of June 21, Constitutional Court judges had already raised the issue of the disqualification of Constitutional Court judges Artak Zeynalyan, Vladimir Vardanyan, and Seda Safaryan from participating in the hearing. Following the vote, the Constitutional Court issued the corresponding decisions disqualifying judges Artak Zeynalyan and Vladimir Vardanyan.
A decision to exclude Judge Seda Safaryan from the case was not made because the matter did not receive the required number of votes from judges, as required by the Law on the Constitutional Court, that is, two- thirds of the total number of judges.
Earlier, the Armenia bloc, led by second President of the Republic of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, appealed to the Constitutional Court demanding that Safaryan be excluded from the hearing. The bloc believes the judge is biased and has a negative attitude toward Kocharyan.
