ArmInfo. An Armenian court has overturned the decision to arrest Aleksandr Sargsyan, the brother of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.
According to Armenian media reports, the respective ruling was issued by Suren Khachatryan, a judge at the Anti-Corruption Court of Appeal.
As a reminder, in March 2026, Anti-Corruption Court Judge Sargis Petrosyan granted the preliminary investigation body's motion to arrest the former Armenian member of parliament, Aleksandr Sargsyan, who was accused of large-scale embezzlement. At the time, it was reported that Aleksandr Sargsyan—being the brother of Serzh Sargsyan, who served as Armenia's Minister of Defense from 2000 to 2007—allegedly influenced the heads of the Military Police department between 2001 and 2018, inciting them to misappropriate state funds. The arrest motion had been granted by the court on February 24.
