


ArmInfo. A candidate for deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the "Strong Armenia" bloc has been arrested. The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reported this.
According to the source, investigative actions carried out as part of the criminal case have uncovered more than 100 cases of giving and receiving electoral bribes. Specifically, clear evidence has been obtained that A.E., a candidate from the "Strong Armenia" party, is being held in the National Assembly. (Ashot Yeghiazaryan - ed.) by prior agreement with a group of individuals, gave electoral bribes ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 drams to more than 100 voters in the Artashat community, on the condition that they vote for a bloc in the RA National Assembly elections on June 7, 2026.
During the preliminary investigation of the criminal case, a criminal case was initiated against candidate A.Ye. by decision of the supervising prosecutor under Part 2 of Article 219 (giving electoral bribes) and Part 3 of Clause 3 of Article 296 (money laundering on an especially large scale) of the RA Criminal Code. Arrest was ordered against the suspect as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
