
ArmInfo. On June 18, a meeting of the Council for Coordinating Reforms in the Police of Armenia was held under the chairmanship of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the government's press service, the meeting discussed the implementation process of the Strategic Plan for Police Reforms for 2024–2026. Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan presented information on the results of the measures envisioned by the strategic plan for execution in 2025, as well as the measures and reforms scheduled for 2026.
The priorities of the strategic plan and the achievements of the management model were presented, including the establishment of a unified MIA educational complex, the MIA 112 operational management center, the four lines of police activity, and the MIA Crime Statistics and Research Center. Details were also shared regarding human resource management reforms, the modernization of the operational control center, the functioning of the police guard, the patrol service, and the development of the criminal police.
The Minister noted that basic education has been established as a mandatory requirement for entering the service. Work is also underway to improve the certification system and introduce a new performance evaluation system. According to Arpine Sargsyan, a 3.2% decrease in crime rates was recorded compared to the previous year.
As part of the agenda, proposals to increase the efficiency of police investigative functions were also presented. This was followed by a discussion during which council members shared their observations and positions on the work accomplished.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of further increasing the efficiency of the reforms, introducing new approaches, and more effectively achieving the goals set in the strategic program. Taking into account the discussions held during the council meeting, the head of government instructed that an in-depth analysis be conducted and proposals be submitted at the next meeting.
