ArmInfo.Relinquishing the rights of the Armenian people has led to the advancement of Azerbaijan's occupational agendas against Armenia, and this is an undeniable fact. This was stated by Azerbaijan expert Tatevik Hayrapetyan.
As an example, she cited an excerpt from a speech by the Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Meclis, Ziyafet Askerov, who claims that "the main goal of the Western Azerbaijan Community is to bring the truth about Western Azerbaijan to the international community." Askerov stated: "Our main goal is to protect the rights of our compatriots displaced from these lands and to ensure their peaceful return to their homeland. The community leadership is actively working toward this goal at international forums, including the UN. Every Western Azerbaijani has the right to return to the land of their ancestors, and this is their legal, historical, and moral right. Because these lands are the territories of our ancestors."
In this regard, Hayrapetyan urges a careful rereading of this statement, which explicitly asserts that Armenia is "the land of their ancestors."
"He says this without any factual, historical, or geographical basis. Moreover, when they appealed to an international court on this matter, the court essentially told them to 'continue their work' (Arman Tatoyan spoke about this based on facts during a televised debate), yet they do not give up. They created an occupational concept from scratch and have been investing resources into its dissemination for more than three years. Meanwhile, the Armenian authorities subordinate to them are in reality trying in every possible way to bury all the rights of the people of Artsakh, even those confirmed by international organizations. After this, they generate false narratives claiming that if we do not speak about Artsakh, Azerbaijan will shelve its occupational ambitions. However, in reality, it is precisely the relinquishment of our rights that has led to the advancement of occupational agendas against us, and this is an undeniable fact," the expert noted.
