


ArmInfo.Officers from the RA State Revenue Committee discovered 10 kg of marijuana smuggled from Iran. This was reported in a statement by the agency.
According to the source, as a result of operational investigative measures, both the method of drug transportation and the identities of the individuals transporting and receiving the drugs were established. Based on existing evidence, two Iranian citizens, H.A., were arrested for drug smuggling in the area adjacent to a hotel in Yerevan and transferred to the SRC Smuggling Department. The suspects were then taken to the Investigative Committee, where they were detained in criminal proceedings initiated under Articles 393 and 399 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Based on relevant court decisions, their arrest was ordered as a preventive measure.
During an investigation conducted by the State Revenue Committee, the National Security Service, the Patrol Police Service, and the Investigative Committee, information was obtained indicating that two Armenian citizens were planning to purchase 3 kilograms of marijuana. They were detained in the Kanaker-Zeytun district of the capital. They were taken to the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia and arrested in connection with criminal proceedings initiated under the relevant article of the RA Criminal Code. As a result of the searches, items crucial to the criminal proceedings were discovered and seized.
Investigative and operational measures are ongoing to identify other individuals allegedly involved in the illegal trafficking of the aforementioned narcotics.
