ArmInfo. The fact that the meeting between Armenian Security Secretary Armen Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Presidential Aide Hikmet Hajiyev took place in our region demonstrates that we are moving forward in the peace process. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed this opinion to journalists during a briefing on June 18.
He stated that he personally instructed Armen Grigoryan to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart. Among the issues discussed, the prime minister noted, were issues related to the detention of compatriots, border management, and many others. Pashinyan also noted that both Armenian and Azerbaijani expert circles had observed certain trends that could lead to an escalation of the situation. "And we, as is our duty, are busy managing the situation," the Prime Minister emphasized.
He assured that the Armenian side did not provide any explanations to the Azerbaijani side, and that the two sides presented their positions and mutual concerns. Pashinyan emphasized that this is precisely what diplomatic work with all countries without exception consists of: clarifying positions and concerns on various issues.
