ArmInfo. As expected, the first official to visit Armenia immediately after the parliamentary elections was an Azerbaijani-in this case, Hikmet Hajiyev, an aide to the Azerbaijani President. Ishkhan Saghatelyan, a member of the Supreme Body of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktsutyun), announced this on his Facebook page.
According to him, even before the official publication of the election results, Aliyev's aide arrived in Armenia and met in Dilijan with the Secretary of the Security Council, who was born and raised in Artsakh. An official announcement was then issued that the parties had discussed a peace treaty.
"Let me remind you: the official election results had not yet been published at that time," Saghatelyan stated, expressing confidence that the visit would result in Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan fulfilling Azerbaijan's latest demands.
Saghatelyan believes that Pashinyan is trying to buy time to arrest opposition members so they cannot interfere with him. "His entire goal is to use arrests and illegal actions to create a new, artificial agenda in the country and distract public attention from truly important issues. But you, Nikol Pashinyan, have neither the egitimacy nor the mandate to fulfill the promises made to Aliyev. Remember this," the Dashnaktsakan stated.
As a reminder, according to a report from the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia, a working meeting between Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Armenia Armen Grigoryan and Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev took place in Dilijan on June 14. During the meeting, the parties discussed issues related to the peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The importance of continuing bilateral dialogue in the context of efforts to strengthen long- term peace and stability in the region was emphasized. The parties also exchanged views on activities aimed at building mutual trust between the civil societies of the two countries.
Armen Grigoryan and Hikmet Hajiyev agreed to continue working contacts, noting that the next meeting will take place in Azerbaijan.
