ArmInfo. Opposition MP Gegham Manukyan from the Armenia faction reported that he sent a request to Andranik Simonyan, Director of the National Security Service (NSS), asking him to clarify how a video recording from the specially protected zone, recorded by a camera installed at the RA NSS border checkpoint at Zvartnots Airport, appeared on the Telegram page of the daily newspaper "Haykakan Zhamanak," owned by the Pashinyan family.
"Perhaps my questions are rhetorical, as the Armenian law enforcement system has long been an institution engaged in illegal activities in the interests of Nikol's government and its whims. Incidentally, this is not the first time I've approached the National Security Service with a question of this nature. I've repeatedly raised the issue in the National Assembly of instances where video recordings from specially protected areas, such as the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and Zvartnots Airport, fall into the hands of the government propaganda machine for political purposes," Manukyan wrote on his Facebook page.
He also said he'd received numerous reports that, according to military police at Armenian border checkpoints, several thousand compatriots were barred from leaving Armenia several days before the elections, a gross violation of the law and fraught with serious criminal consequences. "Nikol is trying to make everyone complicit in his crimes," Manukyan concluded.
It was previously reported that Armenia's second president, Robert Kocharyan, was denied exit from Armenia. Kocharyan's office stated that no compelling reasons were presented for the ban. Meanwhile, pro- government media outlets circulated videos showing Kocharyan undergoing border control, accompanied by the caption "Kocharyan is attempting to leave the country." Interestingly, such speculation occurred despite Kocharyan's office having notified him in advance of his intention to leave Armenia for three days for personal reasons.
