8,000 cardiovascular operation performed in Armenia under health  insurance program in five months - Ministry of Health

ArmInfo.  In just five months, 8,000 cardiovascular surgeries were performed under the health insurance program. This was stated by Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, welcoming the participants of the 15th National  Congress of the Armenian Association of Cardiologists.

"This is a new reality and a completely different healthcare system,"  she said.

According to the minister, along with expanding access to medical  care and services, it is necessary to ensure continuous improvement  of the professional competencies of specialists.

During the Congress, while discussing the achievements of the  industry, it was noted that the hospital mortality rate from  myocardial infarction has decreased in Armenia - it currently stands  at 3.1%, which is in line with the European average. In terms of the  number of stents performed per million residents and the level of  medical equipment, Armenia is among the European leaders.
