Yerevan Mayor to  opposition: They have no idea  what awaits them

They face the harshest punishment prescribed by law," said Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan  at a briefing, referring to alleged cases of voter bribery by the opposition. "I am  clearly saying that no matter what happens to them, they should  prepare well," Avinyan said.

According to him, over the past eight years, elections have been  relatively free, independent, and democratic. "Now, when the  opposition talks about election fraud or similar things, people just  smile, recalling those [past]  incidents," the mayor said. He added  that for the first time in eight years, the opposition had engaged in  widespread criminal activity involving the mass distribution of  electoral bribes.  Furthermore, Avinyan alleged that they were  involved in transporting citizens from other countries for voting  purposes, as well as blackmailing and intimidating citizens. 

"I want to state clearly that this is a 'red line' crossed by the  opposition, and it will be followed by the harshest consequences for  everyone involved. Those who distribute electoral bribes will be  eradicated from our country," the capital's mayor emphasized.

He noted that as a result of the recount, the ruling Civil Contract  party lost slightly over 1,200 votes. "But that is not what is  important. What matters is that the opposition has crossed the  Rubicon. This will be followed by the most serious actions and a  completely different political approach from the ruling political  force, which is building a state of a new quality and a new model,"  Tigran Avinyan concluded.
