Zakharova: EAEU will not tolerate Armenia`s consumerist stance  towards the union

ArmInfo.  The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will not tolerate a situation where Armenia takes a consumerist stance towards the union and at the same time prepares for European integration, Russian Ministry of Foreign  Affairs (MFA) spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during a press  briefing on June 10.

She reiterated that Russia's relations with Armenia are not subject  to opportunistic fluctuations, even during difficult historical  moments, elections, and their results. According to her, what matters  to Moscow are what constitute concrete steps and actions. "We've  observed that the Armenian authorities have been moving toward the  European Union at an accelerated pace, verbally, in statements, and  demonstrating this in every way through their actions. Are they  welcome there? How long can we keep asking this rhetorical question?  The answer is obvious. The Republican leadership is trying to  convince its fellow citizens that there is allegedly no choice yet —  now the question is posed in this way — between the EU and the EAEU  do not need to be done. It is possible, they say, to receive all the  preferences from the Eurasian integration and at the same time  prepare yourself for a request for membership in another economic  bloc. No, you can't. We do not intend to tolerate such a dependent  position in relation to the union of the EAEU," the diplomat  stressed. "Tough? I'm not sure. I think that if tough, then  realistic," she added 

She recalled the resolution adopted by the heads of the four EAEU  countries on May 29 in Astana on the issue of Armenia's continued  membership in the EAEU.
