ArmInfo. The "Strong Armenia" bloc will make a decision on mandates once the final results of the June 7 parliamentary elections in Armenia are in, following the completion of the ballot recount process, as stated by legal expert Gohar Meloyan, a member of the bloc, during a press conference in Yerevan on June 10.
The legal expert stated that before resolving the mandate issue, it is necessary to clarify all the figures underlying the mandate distribution. "We have recorded a huge number of violations. For example, there have been cases where a torn ballot was deemed valid. We believe that all citizens and political forces for whom ensuring the rule of law is paramount should focus on monitoring these processes," the "Strong Armenia" bloc member emphasized. According to her, the amendments could have a significant impact. For example, as Meloyan explained, this concerns the Prosperous Armenia Party's entry into parliament. "The issue currently being determined is whether the party will overcome the 4% threshold. If this happens, the Civil Contract Party will lose the ability to make decisions unilaterally based on a three-fifths majority in parliament. This concerns, among other things, the ratification of international treaties, amendments to the Constitution, and many other important issues. Therefore, before answering all the questions, we must wait for the final results. We also need to understand how many votes we received, how many people voted for us, as this is also a matter of our responsibility to voters. We consider this a serious issue: our citizens have never been given a full opportunity to express their will," the legal expert noted. At the same time, she assured that their struggle from the very beginning was not for the sake of mandates. "The country faces serious problems, and we entered this struggle for the sake of our homeland, leaving much behind," Meloyan concluded.
