ArmInfo. Armenia's political forces continue to practice law instead of politics, political scientist Vahe Davtyan wrote on his Facebook page.
According to him, opposition representatives continue to measure reality strictly by legal norms, stubbornly ignoring the fundamental principles and laws of politics. " "That is precisely why the public is increasingly convinced that a genuine political struggle does not exist in Armenia," Davtyan noted. "This absence was evident even during the pre-election period, when the opposition attempted to compete with a political predator while wearing white gloves. There was competition, but no real struggle. Consequently, all the rhetoric framing these elections as having existential or civilizational significance turned out to be hollow. Your speeches set boundaries that you ultimately failed to defend." Davtyan argued that the opposition's reliance on legal avenues alone has weakened its leverage. "At this very moment, the streets and squares of Yerevan and other cities should be filled with people, and a wave of civil disobedience should have erupted. I assure you, this would not have hindered your legal efforts; on the contrary, it would have strengthened your institutional position. But you prefer to keep your white gloves on," the political scientist stated.
He concluded that regardless of the ongoing vote recounts or any minor adjustments to the final tallies, the broader political dynamic remains unchanged. "You will continue to practice law, while the political predator continues to do his actual job: engaging in politics!" Davtyan wrote.
Note: A recount is currently underway at 555 out of the 2005 polling stations that operated during Armenia's parliamentary elections.
