ArmInfo. The parliamentary elections in Armenia were completely falsified. This was stated by human rights activist Ruben Melikyan.
"This happened before our very eyes, both before the campaign (for example, through the 'extraordinary' pension increases), and during the campaign (administrative resources, political persecution, etc.), and on election day. However, Pashinyan's 'Civil Contract' failed to achieve the desired result-neither a constitutional majority nor a 50% + 1 vote. It failed even with the elections completely rigged. And this happened thanks to the unprecedented activism of our conscientious citizens," the human rights activist wrote.
However, he was unable to answer the question of whether this was a problem or merely words of consolation in light of what had happened.
"In any case, the fact remains: we, the citizens who voted for the opposition, as in 2021, voted for a change in government, not for the Civil Contract party to operate in parliament as an opposition that uses hate speech against the opposition. Ultimately, what is right - to take mandates or not?
I propose resolving this issue by considering the opinions of voters as the most important. I propose holding an 'opposition referendum' by mid-July. Let voters decide for themselves whether they will allow their elected representatives to make decisions or not. During this time, let all the pros and cons be presented and discussed in the public arena," he concluded.
