ArmInfo. The people have awakened and feel that they are the ones who decide what path Armenia will take and what it should be. Hayk Marutyan, the New Force party's candidate for prime minister, stated this in a conversation with journalists on June 7, expressing satisfaction with the high turnout in the elections.
He emphasized that high political activity among citizens during elections is of great importance, especially for a country like Armenia. In this regard, Marutyan recalled that in the previous Council of Elders elections, due to public apathy, turnout was only 28%, which, he said, was very disappointing. Speaking about possible post-election processes, the leader of the New Force party noted that if the elections are held in a normal and calm environment, further developments will be determined by the will of the people.
"If the elections are held without fraud, we must accept the will of the people, regardless of whether the current government or the opposition wins," he said.
Marutyan declined to predict the outcome of the vote, noting that New Force's participation in the elections and its representation in parliament are important, as the party advocates for the protection of human rights, the development of democracy, and Europeanization.
Responding to a question about possible cooperation with other political forces, Marutyan reiterated his readiness to cooperate with all parties, with the exception of the Civil Contract and the Armenia bloc, provided that the New Force's program and principles are preserved. "Because people vote for our programs, not for our pretty faces," he emphasized.
