ArmInfo. The Electric Networks of Armenia company reports widespread power outages in Yerevan and the country's regions.
According to the data, emergency power outages were recorded at dozens of addresses in Yerevan, as well as in the villages of Zovuni, Yeghvard, Artimet, Arinj, and Gyumri.
This is not the first time that the country has experienced sudden power outages on election day. During the snap parliamentary elections in June 2021, half the country was without power at 8:00 PM after the polling stations closed. This was especially true in regions where the country's authorities were unpopular. Voter turnout in Armenia's regular parliamentary elections was 33.84% as of 2:00 PM local time. In the previous, snap parliamentary elections held on June 20, 2021, 26.82%, or 695,626 out of 2,593,572 eligible voters, had cast their ballots as of 2:00 PM.
As a reminder, Armenia is holding regular parliamentary elections on June 7. 2,500 polling stations opened across the country at 8:00 AM local time. Most of them are equipped with surveillance cameras. According to the Migration Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, just under 2.5 million citizens are eligible to vote. Eighteen political forces - two blocs and 16 parties - are participating in the elections. The favorites include current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party, businessman Samvel Karapetyan's Strong Armenia bloc, second president Robert Kocharyan's Armenia bloc, and businessman Gagik Tsarukyan's Prosperous Armenia party. Since early morning, observers and journalists have been reporting numerous violations during the voting process.
