ArmInfo. Dr. Arthur Khachikian, Stanford PhD in Political Science, has labeled the ongoing parliamentary elections in Armenia as the dirtiest in the country's recent history.
"Greetings from Saddam, or how the dirtiest elections in Armenia's recent history are being conducted. Hundreds of violations are reported. Authorities meet with voters near polling stations, direct them, and sometimes even enter polling stations and even booths with them. There are cases of people entering polling stations with prepared ballots. There are also cases of authorities entering polling booths with groups of people. A representative of the Strong Armenia party is reporting hundreds of violations. Assad, Hussein, and Gaddafi send their regards. It is almost a shame they never thought to behave this way themselves," the expert wrote on his social media.
"Our response? Go and vote, friends! Go! All hope rests on you. This is the only way we can respond to these outrageous violations. They will not be able to falsify everything if we turn out at the polling stations en masse. And you are already going—turnout is much higher than before. Preliminary data show that the situation is encouraging! Keep it up, friends," the expert urged.
The turnout in the regular parliamentary elections in Armenia stands at 33.84% as of 2:00 PM local time. In the previous snap parliamentary elections in Armenia on June 20, 2021, as of 2:00 PM, 26.82%, or 695,626 voters out of 2,593,572 eligible voters, had cast their ballots.
