ArmInfo. Moscow expects the next foreign-minister-level meeting of the "3+3" regional platform (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and their three neighbors - Russia, Turkey, Iran) to be hosted in either Baku or Yerevan, with active discussions currently underway. This was announced by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
"We expect that the next ministerial meeting will be held either in Baku or Yerevan. As we understand, negotiations on this matter are ongoing between our Azerbaijani and Armenian colleagues," he said during a panel session "3+3 Platform: Common Challenges and Strategic Partnership," TASS reports.
"I would like to extend a special welcome to the representative of Georgian expert circles participating in our discussion," Galuzin added. "For us, and certainly for all platform participants, Georgia remains an essential partner without whom the '3+3' framework cannot achieve its full potential. I remain hopeful that, in time, official Tbilisi will join our work." The panel session was organized by the A.M. Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Support Fund and the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, with the support of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It should be noted that the inaugural meeting of the "3+3" consultative platform took place on December 10, 2021, in Moscow, co-chaired by deputy foreign ministers from Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkey, alongside the Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry. While official representatives from Georgia declined to attend, organizers emphasized that the door remains open for Tbilisi's future participation. Subsequent ministerial-level meetings were held in Iran in 2023 and Turkey in 2024, featuring the foreign ministers of the five participating nations. Georgia consistently refrained from attending these sessions. Member states previously reached a consensus to rotate the next summit to either Azerbaijan or Armenia.
