Putting a theoretical choice to a referendum is not so reasonable, it is wrong and unfounded - RA premier

ArmInfo. It is crucial for the  Armenian authorities to continue a consistent, balanced, and measured  foreign policy. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in his  video address.

According to him, the military parade on May 28, which showcased not  only products from seven countries but also domestically produced  goods, could serve as a vivid example of this policy. The Prime  Minister emphasized the importance of a balanced and measured foreign  policy aimed at developing the country's economy. In this context, he  noted the importance of the country's participation in the EAEU and  the continuation of the policy of developing relations with the EU.  The Prime Minister stated that holding a referendum on choosing  between the EU and the EAEU is illogical at this time. He stated that  Armenia is working and will continue to work until the choice between  the EAEU and the EU becomes inevitable.  "When this referendum will  take place is also an important question. At least until Armenia has  officially applied to the EU for membership or is close to achieving  candidate status, holding any referendum is illogical, because, in  essence, a balance has not been established so that we can offer the  people a choice of following one path or another. Today, this choice  is theoretical, and putting a theoretical choice to a referendum is  not so reasonable, it is wrong, and unfounded," Pashinyan said,  adding that Yerevan will continue to work calmly, without disputes,  and without stress, within the EAEU, because the country still has  potential in this direction, which will be realized in the near  future.

As for relations with Russia, Pashinyan noted that Armenia attaches  great importance to them. He reiterated that relations with Moscow  are undergoing a transformation, which can be considered a positive  process.  "In this new situation, we are establishing new relations,  and I am confident that we will succeed in this matter. This is  partly because our relations with Russia are open and sincere, and we  have no dark sides," Pashinyan noted.
