ArmInfo. Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, has filed a lawsuit against Alen Simonyan, the speaker of the Armenian parliament, demanding 6 million drams in compensation for defamation.
According to a report posted in the Datalex legal system, the lawsuit seeks Karapetyan's defense team to compel the court to compel Simonyan to publicly retract the factual information he expressed, deemed defamatory, and contained in the speaker's May 19 posts on Facebook and TikTok. In particular, Simonyan, speaking about Karapetyan, states that "law enforcement agencies must assess how it is possible and legal for an employee of another foreign intelligence service to create a party in the Republic of Armenia and engage in politics."
Karapetyan's defense emphasizes that Simonyan's allegations are completely false, untrue, and thus defame Samvel Karapetyan.
Karapetyan's defense demands that Simonyan post retractions on the same social media platforms. Furthermore, Karapetyan's defense demands that Simonyan pay 6 million drams in compensation for defamation, as well as legal costs consisting of the state fee and reasonable attorney's fees.
