ArmInfo. As of 3:00 PM, the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs has received a letter addressed to the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration. It has been forwarded to the ministry for review, and the Armenian side will respond as necessary, as reported to ArmInfo by RA MFA spokesperson Ani Badalyan.
Recall, earlier today, Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova stated that the Russian side had officially notified the Armenian MFA that Moscow could terminate agreements on the supply of gas, petroleum products, and rough diamonds if Armenia proceeds with its path toward EU membership.
Zakharova also rejected statements made by Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure David Khudatyan, who had claimed that his ministry had not yet received any written communication from Russia's Ministry of Energy regarding the possible suspension of the agreements.
According to Zakharova, on May 27 the Russian Embassy in Armenia officially handed over a letter from Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev to Armenia's Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure. The document reportedly states that if Armenia continues its EU accession process, Russia may suspend or unilaterally withdraw from the December 2, 2013 agreement on cooperation in the supply of natural gas, petroleum products, and rough diamonds to Armenia, RBC reported.
