ArmInfo. The Wings of Unity Party does not receive funding from any external sources, especially from Russia. This was stated by party leader Arman Tatoyan, responding to a statement by the Independent Observer organization that Wings of Unity received funding from the Russian Federation.
"The fake article published about me today clearly reveals its origins. Events will reveal whose origins they are. It attributes astronomical expenses to Wings of Unity, which is a lie. The published figures are fabricated, completely exaggerated. We didn't spend even half the stated amount. We spent 10% of the stated amount on offices.
These are facts, objective facts. The information about funding sources is a complete lie," Tatoyan stated.
He added that all actions of the political force he leads are conducted within the law, as evidenced by tax and bank reports and all other relevant documents.
"The Wings of Unity party does not receive funding from any external sources, especially from Russia.
We are currently seeking legal recourse: we will sue the dubious original source to hold them accountable. We will then pursue anyone who tries to harm us. I will not allow anyone to play with my power and good reputation," Tatoyan stated.
The previous evening, the Independent Observer announced it was filing a police report based on the publication of information "on the alleged illegal funding" of 926 million drams for the Wings of Unity party.
"The investigation shows that the support was carried out through the EISI Institute, which operates under the leadership of the head of the Russian presidential administration, Sergei Kiriyenko. The Center's publication of the dossier contains a clear violation under Articles 231 (raising a large illegal donation for the benefit of a party) and 232 (prohibition on exceeding the legally established amount of a donation to a party or circumventing the prohibition on large-scale donations from sources prohibited by law) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia against the Wings of Unity party. The estimates of Arman Tatoyan's funding and the information on transfers mentioned in the Center's publication are entirely reliable, since they logically explain the origin of the huge sums spent on Tatoyan's PR and the Wings of Unity brand, which were kept secret," said Daniel Ioannisyan, program coordinator for the NGO "Union of Informed Citizens."
