Carpet museum to be established in Armenia - MESCS

ArmInfo.  Zhanna Andreasyan, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with  philanthropist Levon Vartan Der Bedrosian. This agreement marks an  important and symbolic step toward the preservation and development  of Armenia's cultural heritage, according to the MoESCS press  service.

Under the memorandum, philanthropist Levon Vartan Der Bedrosian  intends to donate real estate located in the Garni community, along  with his personal collection, to the Republic of Armenia for the  purpose of establishing a carpet museum. This initiative is of  exceptional significance, as it provides an opportunity to create a  new cultural hub dedicated to the art of Armenian carpet weaving. The  museum is envisioned as a major educational and cultural center that  will host themed exhibitions, masterclasses, educational programs,  and other cultural events.

Zhanna Andreasyan expressed her gratitude to the philanthropist for  his extraordinary contribution to the preservation and development of  the national cultural heritage.

"Your patriotic initiative is invaluable. This is a vital step toward  preserving, popularizing, and passing down the art of Armenian carpet  weaving to future generations, as well as fostering a new creative  environment. This initiative can serve as the foundation for a  significant new cultural landmark, which will also stimulate tourism  and public interest in Armenia," the Minister said, noting that the  establishment of a carpet museum is also outlined in the Strategy for  the Preservation and Development of Culture of the Republic of  Armenia.

Expressing his appreciation for the partnership, benefactor Levon  Vartan Der Bedrosian noted that he was very pleased with this  collaboration, which he had long envisioned. "I am confident that  together we will achieve success. This is also a significant example  of strengthening Armenia-Diaspora relations through joint  initiatives. Carpet weaving is a unique and vital component of  Armenian culture, reflecting the history, traditions, and artistic  expression of our people," the philanthropist said.

It should be noted that, according to the memorandum, the Ministry of  Education, Science, Culture and Sports will ensure the professional  and organizational development of the museum, attract the necessary  professional potential, ensure the proper preservation of the  collections, and ensure the museum's effective operation. The  creation of the new museum will contribute to the preservation,  study, and popularization of the rich heritage of carpet art,  ensuring its transmission to future generations.
