
ArmInfo. The Armenian parliamentary delegation, led by RA National Assembly Vice Speaker Hakob Arshakyan, is participating in the work of the Council, plenary sessions, and standing committees of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS) in St. Petersburg.
According to the NA press service, on May 21, the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly held a meeting chaired by Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko, during which reports from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly observer missions were presented, including on preparatory work for observing the parliamentary elections to be held in Armenia on June 7, 2026. In this regard, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan noted that the parliamentary elections in Armenia, scheduled for June 7, 2026, will be held under the observation of a number of international organizations, including the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie, and the European Parliament.
"This reflects our country's commitment to the principles of transparency and democratic standards of the electoral process," noted Hakob Arshakyan. According to the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, a long-term mission of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly recently visited Armenia.
"Regular invitations to the mission reflect the stable nature of cooperation and the Armenian side's interest in an independent international assessment of the elections. The expected visit of the main delegation of the CIS PA to Yerevan from June 4 to 8 will be an important part of the international monitoring," the Deputy Speaker emphasized. He also reported that a PACE mission visited Armenia in May, whose representatives held meetings with government agencies, parliamentary representatives, non-governmental organizations, and the media. Issues related to electoral legislation, the pre-election situation, and election organization were discussed. "In conclusion, I would like to emphasize the importance of international monitoring as one of the factors in strengthening trust in the electoral process," noted Hakob Arshakyan. During the Council meeting, the Assembly's current activities, upcoming programs, and key areas of cooperation were also discussed.
