ArmInfo.Azerbaijan is actively interfering in Armenia's electoral processes to advance the interests of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the ruling party, as stated in a video address by Arman Tatoyan, the prime ministerial candidate from the "Wings of Unity" party.
According to him, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated a few days ago that Armenians are in need of psychologists, psychiatrists, and doctors, yet no reaction followed from the Armenian side. There was absolutely no response from Armenia, including from the country's Prime Minister.
"While these statements were widely disseminated in Azerbaijan, and individual government officials, particularly Azerbaijani MP Musa Guliyev, published threatening materials and made harsh statements, claiming that Armenians must finally 'come to their senses,' calling Armenian society reckless," Tatoyan stated. He added that assertions were made in Azerbaijan that Armenian society needs to be shown force ahead of the elections to demonstrate that the 'iron fist' remains in place.
Tatoyan informed the materials he has collected will be forwarded to the EU ambassador and the EU delegation in Yerevan. "The European Union has stated that it is combating Russian interference in the elections, which is a positive step, but an equal approach is needed to all forms of external interference, including Azerbaijani interference," he stated.
The politician noted that Armenian society should make decisions in the elections not out of fear, but in the interests of the state and the people.
