ArmInfo. During the 44-day war in 2020, 3,833 people died on the Armenian side. This was stated by the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, Alen Simonyan, in a live broadcast on his Facebook page, noting that he wanted to prevent the opposition from exploiting the topic for speculation.
According to him, the opposition is trying to inflate the number of Armenian casualties during the pre- election period. "They claim that more than 5,000 people have died, more than 6,000, and so on. But I must say that this number doesn't correspond to reality. According to the criminal cases initiated during the 44- day war, the number stands at 3,833, of which 78 are civilians and 3,755 are military personnel," Simonyan assured.
He also clarified that this figure does not include missing servicemen, who number stands at approximately 160. "Stop trying to gain political dividends at the expense of our deceased and our pain," Simonyan noted, asserting that the main cause of wars in Armenia is the second President, Robert Kocharyan, and the opposition as a whole.
