Armenian Culture Days to take place in China this year

ArmInfo.  RA Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Artur Martirosyan announced this at an event to announce the results of the international competition "Chinese Bridge," which was held under the motto "One World, One Family."

He noted that in recent years, there has been a significant growth  and deepening of cooperation and ties between Armenia and China in  the fields of education, culture, science, and youth policy.  Martirosyan emphasized that this is evidenced by the activities of  the Confucius Institute, the Armenian-Chinese Friendship School, the  Chinese government scholarship program, translation programs, and  much more. In this vein, the Deputy Minister reaffirmed the country's  readiness to further deepen relations with China in various fields.  Emphasizing the importance of cooperation in the arts and literature,  he reported that works by classical and contemporary authors are  being actively translated-both from Armenian into Chinese and from  Chinese into Armenian.

The Deputy Minister also touched on the Armenian government's policy  of teaching various foreign languages in the general education  system, noting that Chinese is certainly one of them. According to  Martirosyan, there is a growing interest in the Chinese language  among Armenian youth, driven not only by the Armenian people's  cultural tradition of studying foreign languages, but also by the  effective work of the Confucius Institute and the ongoing efforts of  the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Armenia.  Chinese  Ambassador to Armenia Li Xingwei noted the important role of the  Armenian language in preserving national identity. He emphasized  that, thanks to language, Armenian civilization has developed over  the millennia, despite numerous challenges.

"I am especially proud of you-you already master two of the most  difficult languages in the world- Armenian and Chinese." "I hope that  you will be the ones who contribute to the development of friendly  relations between China and Armenia, as well as the dissemination of  Armenian culture throughout the world," he addressed the competition  participants.

According to the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports,  the Armenian stage of the international "Chinese Language Bridge"  competition is open to students of various age groups. The  competition includes a Chinese language test, speeches and  presentations, and a cultural program. The event has been held in  Armenia since 2013 at the initiative of the Embassy of the People's  Republic of China in Armenia and is coordinated by the Confucius  Center of the Bryusov State University.
