


ArmInfo.A local resident was detained by police on Tuesday during a campaign rally for the ruling Civil Contract party in Yerevan's Shengavit district. The man's wife shared video footage of the arrest on social media.
She alleged that law enforcement officers used excessive force and handcuffed her husband despite his stated willingness to accompany them voluntarily. The woman further claimed that officers shoved both her and the detainee's elderly mother during the confrontation.
In the published footage, the man asks for the handcuffs to be removed, stating that he is not resisting and is ready to go with the officers. During his arrest, he shouted, "Nikol is a traitor." According to one police officer, the detainee was taken to the Shengavit police station.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the citizen was detained on suspicion of provoking or promoting hatred, discrimination, intolerance, or enmity, as well as distributing materials or objects intended to foster such sentiments.
