ArmInfo. The legal team representing Samvel Karapetyan, the "Strong Armenia" bloc's candidate for Prime Minister, will formally seek the recusal of Judge Vahe Dolmazyan at the next hearing of the Anti-Corruption Court. Defense attorney Aram Vardevanyan announced the move to reporters on May 12, citing a pattern of judicial decisions that the defense claims demonstrates bias and a violation of the defendant's fundamental rights.
According to Vardevanyan, the basis for the motion are decisions made during previous hearings, including the refusal to allow Samvel Karapetyan to visit his father's grave, as well as the rulings issued by the court today. The lawyer noted that, unlike the leaders of other political forces participating in the election campaign, Samvel Karapetyan, who is under house arrest, is deprived of the opportunity to meet with voters and present his platform. Vardevanyan noted that this decision demonstrates a violation of the principle of equal political rights, and the court's continued refusal to change Karapetyan's pretrial detention is clear evidence of this.
It should be noted that the next court hearing in Karapetyan's case will be held on May 26 at 2:30 PM. The hearing will continue the consideration of the petition.
