ArmInfo. Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, on behalf of the Holy See, sent a message on the occasion of Victory and Peace Day.
"May 9 is a day of precious memories for us, as we glorify the heroic deeds of the children of our people in World War II and the Artsakh heroic battle. The glorious victory achieved in the Great Patriotic War is a testament to the cohesive and united struggle of peoples against fascism, against injustice and evil. Our people made a significant contribution to this victory.
For decades, this day was also marked for us by the victory of the Artsakh struggle for survival. Today, when Artsakh is occupied and depopulated of Armenians, we are obliged to continue pursuing the protection of the rights of the dispossessed Armenians of Artsakh. These past events should keep us firm and resolute on the path to realizing our vision of building a powerful and secure state," the message of Garegin II reads, as quoted by the press office of the Mother See of Etchmiadzin.
"Victory and Peace Day should remind us of the unity shown by our people during those difficult days, the brave spirit, and the sacrifice of our heroes for the sake of the nation, the homeland, and peace. Through its symbolism, this sacred day should also strengthen within us the zeal and obligation to care for war veterans and the families of the fallen and the missing.
We pray for the souls of the sons of the Armenian people who offered their lives in the Great Patriotic War and the Artsakh heroic battle, whose patriotism remains an inspiring example for generations—to live, create, and fight with the same responsibility and dedication for the love of our native land. With a prayer to the Almighty, we seek peace for the world and prosperity for all nations. May the Risen Lord, under the shadow of His Right Hand, keep our homeland and all our people safe and secure, firm in hope and faith, and united in love. The grace, love, and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all."
