ArmInfo.Opposition forces in Armenia must awaken the Armenian people and remind them of their constitutional rights, as stated by Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, at a press conference in Yerevan.
He noted that the Armenian people must make their choice in the parliamentary elections on June 7. "For eight years, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has deceived the country's citizens. Specifically, he promised to eradicate violence, create an atmosphere of solidarity, ensure national unity based on law and order, uphold the principle of 'all are equal before the law,' protect human rights, encourage investment, and create tens of thousands of jobs. He promised to prioritize Armenia's interests in foreign policy, maintain strategic cooperation with Russia as an important tool for ensuring the country's security, remain committed to the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, and finally resolve the issue of Armenian political prisoners. However, over these years, he has demonstrated the exact opposite," Karapetyan noted.
Karapetyan expressed confidence that his party will succeed in awakening the Armenian people, who in 2021 (early parliamentary elections - ed.) simply did not go to the polls in an atmosphere of fear and hatred towards Pashinyan. "Therefore, today, all opposition forces must work to remind Armenian citizens of their constitutional rights, so that in the future they will not blame either political forces or politicians for their poverty. While the Armenian authorities claim a poverty rate of 21% in Armenia, according to our calculations, poverty in the country's regions has already exceeded 40%," Karapetyan concluded.
