Lawyer warns of law enforcement inaction in case of child abuse in  Vedi

ArmInfo.  In February of this year, the Vedi Investigative Department opened a case of violent sexual assault against a minor, and a similar case was opened in  April.  However, as lawyer Lusine Martirosyan noted on her Facebook  page, the police, investigative bodies, and the prosecutor's office  are taking no action.

Despite the availability of specific information about the suspects,  in one case no arrests were made, while in another, the accused was  detained but soon released. According to the lawyer, no searches are  being conducted in the ongoing investigations, no mobile phones are  being seized, no digital forensics are being performed, no call logs  are being requested, no forensic examinations are being ordered, no  clothing is being seized, no crime scene inspections are being  conducted, and no psychologists are working with the victims.

"Meanwhile, the criminals remain at large. Moreover, due to the  inaction of law enforcement agencies, new incidents are being  recorded," Martirosyan emphasized.

She stated that a situation is emerging in which pedophiles in the  country receive full protection and patronage, even de facto  immunity, which, for example, cannot be said of a user who posted  offensive content on Facebook.

According to Martirosyan, the Investigative Committee and the  Prosecutor's Office, in response to public pressure, created the  appearance of an investigation. Criticizing the Investigative  Committee's press secretary's latest publication about the  high-profile case in Vedi, the lawyer stated that everyone involved  will be held accountable for both their actions and inactions.

The incident in Vedi was reported days earlier by journalist Suzi  Badoyan. On her Facebook page, Badoyan described cases of sexual  violence against two schoolgirl sisters. The defendants in the case  are 58-year-old Artur Yeremyan and 65-year-old David Aynazyan, who  are still at large.
