ArmInfo. The first-ever Armenia-EU Summit opens in Yerevan. The event will be chaired by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The EU Delegation to Armenia stated in a statement that the event will be an important step forward in developing relations and reaffirms the European Union's strong commitment to Armenia's sovereignty, resilience, and reforms.
During the summit, the leaders will take stock of the progress achieved in bilateral relations and promote further strengthening of cooperation, particularly in the areas of economy, transport infrastructure, and security. They will also discuss joint efforts to strengthen stability and sustainable development in the South Caucasus. The agenda will also include regional and global developments, particularly in Ukraine and the Middle East.
"The key outcomes of the summit will be the launch of the EU-Armenia Transport Infrastructure Partnership, covering transport, energy, digital technologies, and people-to-people contacts through high- level dialogue. This will be complemented by initiatives aimed at mobilizing EU private investment in Armenia.
At the same time, the parties will reaffirm their readiness to deepen cooperation in the field of security and defense, including through the establishment of a new EU Partnership Mission in Armenia.
At the same time, the leaders will participate in preliminary work on operational arrangements between the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Armenia.
The first EU-Armenia summit demonstrates tangible results of cooperation and the European Union's commitment to promoting peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus," the EU Delegation to Armenia said in a statement.
