ArmInfo. The Eighth Summit of the European Political Community will unite issues of national importance for Armenia and topics of current interest for EU-wide discussion, as stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan in an interview with the "Lurer" program. He was presenting the topics to be discussed within the framework of the summit, currently taking place in Armenia.
"The main areas of discussion will be hybrid threats and democratic resilience, communications, green transformation, and energy," the Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister said. When asked about the extent to which the summit brings Armenia closer to the EU, the Foreign Minister responded that it is one of the major events on the European continent, held twice a year. Today, it can be said that Armenia is the heart of Europe, and the main political debate in Europe as a whole will focus on Armenia today. "Very important messages will be heard from Yerevan," he added.
When asked about Armenia's expectations from the summit, the diplomat noted that it is crucial for Yerevan to expand its international engagement and improve Armenia's image, and such events provide the best foundation for this.
"We are striving to expand the horizons within which Armenia can express itself on international platforms in general, to increase Armenia's visibility in the international press, and today we see that this is becoming a reality," he said.
When asked whether a joint statement is planned following the summit and what it will include, the Deputy Foreign Minister clarified that the Yerevan Dialogue format itself does not provide for the adoption of joint statements, but rather serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas.
It should be noted that 43 high-level delegations, approximately 500 participants, are taking part in the 8th summit in Yerevan.
