ArmInfo. Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, responded to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's attacks on the European Parliament.
Taking the floor after Aliyev's speech at the European Political Community Summit in Yerevan, she noted that statements made at the summit required an immediate response. "I must say this because one of the speeches focused specifically on the European Parliament. And it requires an immediate response," Metsola said.
In this vein, she hastened to remind everyone that the European Parliament is a democratic body composed of elected representatives. "And its resolutions are adopted by a majority. These resolutions may create inconvenience for many, but we never change our working methods and approaches," Metsola emphasized.
In his keynote speech at the European Political Community summit in Yerevan, Ilham Aliyev criticized the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for their resolutions in support of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh in the face of Azerbaijani aggression. He accused the European Parliament of employing double standards.
