Samvel Karapetyan: After our victory, heroes will become heroes again

ArmInfo. True patriots of the Armenian people will always be the targets of the current authorities. This was stated by businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan, leader of the Strong Armenia party, during a podcast.

According to him, the country's authorities are fulfilling the demands of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev by their actions. "We must be prepared for this. What Aliyev failed to achieve in 30 years, the Armenian authorities did at their behest. But soon after our victory, heroes will become heroes again," said Samvel Karapetyan.

As a reminder, businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan was taken into custody in June 2025 after publicly supporting the Armenian Apostolic Church amid a conflict between the clergy and the authorities. Karapetyan himself denied the charges, calling the government's actions political pressure. Following his statement in support of the Church, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan posted a series of offensive comments on social media about the clergy and philanthropists, sparking widespread public outcry. Later, new charges of large-scale money laundering were brought against the businessman. In December 2025, he was transferred to house arrest.
