Turkish Defense Ministry once again denies accusations of  Armenian  Genocide, shifting  blame from perpetrator to  victim

ArmInfo. While the Armenian authorities are attempting to revision the events of 1915 (the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey), the Turkish Defense Ministry continues its policy of denial, and even tries to shift the  blame from the perpetrator to the victim.

On April 24, the Turkish National Defense Ministry posted a statement  on its  X account, saying  the following: "We commemorate  with   mercy those who died in the so-called Armenian Genocide, in which  defenseless and innocent Turks were brutally murdered."

On the day when many countries around the world honors the innocent  victims of the Armenian Genocide, the Turkish authorities once again  demonstrated not only a lack of remorse but also a continuation of  their anti-Armenian policies. 

It should also be noted that on the 111th anniversary of the Armenian  Genocide, Public Television aired an interview with expert Robert  Tatoyan, who stated that the 1.5 million victims included not only  Armenians who were killed by the Young Turks, but also those who  tried to escape and were persecuted by Kemalist Turkey, as well as  those who died from  famine and epidemics in 1918-1919.  Recall that  at the end of March, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told  reporters during a briefing that, as Prime Minister of the Republic  of Armenia, he rejects the agenda of restoring historical justice,  believing that a just reality must be pursued. He noted that pursuing  historical injustice will lead to new historical injustices. 

In his statement on the  111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide,  Pashinyan emphasized the following:  "Today, we lead the Republic of  Armenia with this very logic, with the ideology of the Real Armenia,  understanding that peace and security are, first and foremost,  regulated relations with neighbors, based on recognizing each other's  territorial integrity, sovereignty, inviolability of borders, and  political independence.  The forces that speak with the calls and  logic of "returning the lost homeland, restoring historical borders  and justice" are putting the Republic of Armenia on the rails of the  1878 San Stefano Conference, the inevitable last stop of which is the  loss of statehood and homeland, because everyone in the world has  their own history, everyone has their own justice, everyone has their  own lost homeland. We have finally escaped this trap, and attempts to  lead Armenia in that direction again are an invitation to our state  and people to the scaffold.  At the cost of victims and sacrifices,  we have found, rediscovered our homeland, and that homeland is the  Republic of Armenia.  The reparation for the sacrifices of all our  martyrs is the perpetuation of the Republic of Armenia.  The freedom,  security, and well-being of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia  are the fulfillment of the aspirations and interrupted dreams of all  our martyrs. We are going this way. The people of the Republic of  Armenia are going this way."
