The recognition of historical truth by the entire international community constitutes a necessary condition to prevent the recurrence of crimes against humanity, as noted in a statement issued by Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias on the occasion of the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
"Today we honor the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, one of the most heinous crimes against humanity in the 20th century. For Hellenism, which shares with the friendly people of Armenia the historical experience of persecution and tragedies, the commemorative events are not a mere 'anniversary' Process.
They serve as a constant reminder that the recognition of historical truth by the entire international community constitutes a necessary condition to prevent the recurrence of crimes against humanity," Dendias wrote in a post on X, accompanied by a photo from his visit to the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex in Yerevan.
