
ArmInfo. An international seminar on "Statehood and its forms in Armenia and neighboring countries" and "Identity, State-building, Myth-making: the Rise and Fall of Ethnopolitical Processes in the South Caucasus in the 20th century" was held in Yerevan.
As reported to ArmInfo by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia, leading experts from Armenia, Georgia, and Poland delivered scientific reports, presenting the development of statehood in the Armenian Highlands in the 2nd millennium BC (using Armenia as an example), state formations governed by Islamic elites in the territory of historical Armenia, ethnopolitical processes in Albania, the modernization of identity under the influence of peripheral capitalism, Georgian state policy toward the Muslims of Adjara, anti-pluralism as a feature of political culture in the post-Soviet period, and other topics.
During the seminar, Armen Sargsyan, Director of the International Scientific and Educational Center at the NAS of Armenia, emphasized the importance of international academic dialogue and cooperation. "This meeting has brought together leading experts to discuss fundamental issues related to the development of statehood, historical transformations, and the complex dynamics of identity and mythmaking. These topics are of great importance for understanding contemporary regional and global challenges," Sargsyan noted. In turn, Dr. Katarzyna Maksymiuk from the University of Siedlce emphasized the importance of establishing further cooperation. Giorgi Sanikidze, Director of the George Tsereteli Institute of Oriental Studies at Ilia University in Georgia, proposed a new area of collaboration, noting that it could have a significant impact globally. According to the source, the seminar was initiated by the Geghard Scientific and Analytical Foundation, the International Scientific and Educational Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, and the University of Siedlce in Poland.
