ArmInfo. The global water agenda remains fragmented, with policy coordination at the regional, global, and national levels lacking. This was stated by Federico Properzi, Chief Technical Advisor at UN-Water, on April 23 during roundtable consultations on the establishment of an International Water Organization at the Regional Environmental Congress (RES).
"Investments may be insufficient, but we still face significant challenges. Water must be discussed at various UN forums, as a significant gap remains in the overall governance system. It is essential to ensure the coherence of all water-related documents," he noted. Properzi also emphasized that Kazakhstan's initiative to establish an International Water Organization is truly necessary.
He also proposed a number of practical solutions, emphasizing, first and foremost, the importance of focusing on political processes and challenges within countries. "We need to build coalitions and develop a common vision to balance our ambitions with reality," he said.
