
ArmInfo. In observance of the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and to ensure the safety of participants during the annual Torchlight Procession, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has announced significant traffic restrictions across Yerevan.
According to information provided to ArmInfo by the Police Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia, to ensure the safety of torchlight procession participants, traffic will be restricted on streets leading to Republic Square from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on April 23. "Starting at 8:00 PM, traffic will be restricted in the following directions: Republic Square - Amiryan Street, Mashtots Avenue - France Square, Baghramyan Avenue - Friendship Square, Kyivyan Street - Kyivyan Bridge, up to the intersection of Halabyan and Kirk Kerkoryan Streets," the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
On April 24, from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the following roads will be closed to traffic in both directions: the section from Victory Bridge to Atenk Street and the Tsitsernakaberd intersection to Kirk Kerkoryan (formerly Leningradyan) Street, and the section of the road leading from the Hrazdan Gorge to Hrazdan Stadium. "Entrance to the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex will be through the main alley, from Kirk Kerkoryan (formerly Leningradyan) Street, and exit will be towards Brazil Square," the ministry reported.
Free public transportation will be provided from Brazil Square, according to the source. "In order to ensure the safety of participants in state commemorative events, public access to Tsitsernakaberd will be temporarily restricted from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM," the Ministry of Internal Affairs concluded.
