
ArmInfo.During a meeting with Kevin Hamilton, NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan highly appreciated the ongoing development of relations between Armenia and the North Atlantic Alliance, as reported by the Armenian presidential press service.
"I am pleased to note that Armenia and NATO have truly succeeded in establishing a solid foundation for a stronger partnership. We maintain a fairly active dialogue and cooperation with NATO and its allies, and I hope that during your term we will continue to expand joint initiatives and programs," Khachaturyan noted.
In turn, Hamilton noted that he will make every effort to advance cooperation between Armenia and the North Atlantic Alliance, as well as to contribute to strengthening stability and security in the region.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for effective cooperation in various formats, emphasizing the positive dynamics of high-level political dialogue. They also exchanged views on the importance of joint efforts to protect democracy and democratic values, emphasizing the significance of cooperation in institutional development, strengthening the rule of law, and increasing transparency in governance. The importance of sharing best practices and ensuring the continuous development of relevant programs was stressed.
Khachaturyan noted that Armenia's close cooperation with individual NATO member states continues to expand, encompassing both the political and military spheres. He added that this cooperation plays a crucial role in developing the country's potential, advancing reforms, and strengthening regional security. The parties reaffirmed their willingness to continue constructive dialogue and further develop a partnership aimed at promoting peace, stability and security in the region.
