ArmInfo. The Russian Embassy in Armenia announced the celebratory events planned in the republic to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WWII). "On May 9 at 12:00 PM local time, to mark the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Immortal Regiment Abroad historical and cultural public organization will organize a traditional memorial procession in Yerevan from the area adjacent to the Church of the Holy Cross in the Arabkir district to the Eternal Flame memorial in Victory Park. This large-scale event, featuring veterans of the Great Patriotic War, will be accompanied by a brass band," the Russian Embassy in Armenia said in a statement.
Furthermore, according to the statement, a wreath-laying ceremony and flower-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame will take place at 1:00 PM in Victory Park, followed by a memorial service.
"We invite you to join us in honoring the memory of the heroic liberators and commemorating the Great Victory of our peoples over Nazism!" the Russian Embassy stated. It should be noted that before the 44-day war in 2020 around Artsakh, May 9 was celebrated in Armenia as a triple holiday: Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, the liberation of Shushi, and the day of the formation of the Artsakh Defense Army.
