ArmInfo. David Khachatryan has become a member of the Information Systems Regulatory Commission. This was confirmed by the results of a secret ballot held in the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
As Narek Babayan, Chairman of the Parliamentary Counting Commission, noted at the April 16 session of the National Assembly, 61 out of 107 MPs participated in the vote. All of them voted in favor of the candidate for commission membership.
It should be noted that the parliamentary opposition did not participate in the vote. David Khachatryan's candidacy was proposed by the ruling Civil Contract faction in Armenia. The National Assembly previously elected Nerses Yeritsyan as Chair of the Information Systems Regulatory Commission, and Srbuhi Hakobyan and Nairi Adamyan as members.
The Information Systems Regulatory Commission in Armenia is a new body designed to implement cybersecurity standards and identify and prevent cyber incidents. The commission is tasked with regulating critical information infrastructure. Parliament is currently discussing and approving the composition of the commission's members. The creation of the commission will require significant annual investments, tentatively estimated at 4-6 billion drams. The commission is being created in response to growing threats in the digital space and the need to protect state information systems.
