Ruling party MP: Opposition consolidating around Robert Kocharyan

ArmInfo. In essence, the political teams of Samvel Karapetyan (Strong Armenia), Gagik Tsarukyan (Prosperous Armenia), and Robert Kocharyan (Armenia bloc) have one candidate: Robert Kocharyan. Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of NA from the ruling Civil Contract party, expressed this opinion during a press briefing on April 15.

He clarified that Samvel Karapetyan cannot be a candidate for prime  minister or hold this position due to legal constrains. Gagik  Tsarukyan, according to Aleksanyan, has indicated he is not a  candidate, noting that this issue has not yet been disclosed. "And of  the three, Robert Kocharyan is the only candidate,"  the MP said.

The MP also noted that incumbent MP Elinar Vardanyan from the  "Armenia" bloc was on the Prosperous Armenia party's election list,  while its leader, Gagik Tsarukyan, has repeatedly stated that he will  not support Robert Kocharyan's candidacy. "Don't you see the  political dissonance here? It's political absurdity!" he declared.

Aleksanyan referred to the consolidation of these three opposition  forces as an established fact. He also pointed out that the ruling  party is not worried, and the final assessment will be made by the  electorate on June 7, the day of the elections.
