
ArmInfo.During a meeting with a delegation led by Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Odra Plepyte, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia Armen Ghazaryan emphasized the friendly relations between the two countries and praised Lithuania's expert support for institutional reforms underway within the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ghazaryan presented the strategic directions for modernizing the internal security system within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinate services, the extensive work accomplished, and the results achieved.
The interlocutors discussed the Armenia-EU dialogue on visa liberalization. In this regard, Kazaryan noted that the issuance of new-generation biometric passports and ID cards in accordance with international standards will begin soon, marking an important step in ensuring data security and improving the passport system.
The Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia also presented the features of the Unified Operational Control Center (112), noting that this center, which complies with international standards, enables the most rapid response to emergency situations and effective cooperation between services.
The parties also discussed the prospects for a new integrated border control management model, the transformation of the educational component, and the introduction of preventive tools aimed at combating crime and reducing the incidence of offenses.
Kazaryan emphasized that recent surveys by reputable international organizations, in particular the International Republican Institute (IRI), indicate a significant increase in public trust in the police and a decrease in dissatisfaction, which is key evidence of the effectiveness of sectoral reforms.
Plepite, having praised the digitalization and modernization program of the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs, confirmed the Lithuanian side's readiness to expand bilateral cooperation.
